The USDA National Institute of Food and Agriculture recently approved a $250,0000 grant to support and improve the work of the CVM Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory (VDL), which serves veterinarians, scientists, educators, companion animal owners, and the livestock and poultry industry by identifying and monitoring emerging diseases and developing new diagnostic methods. This grant is part of the support the VDL receives as a Level 1 member of the National Animal Health Laboratory Network (NAHLN).

Led by Albert Rovira, the VDL will use the funding to ensure continued quality, sample testing capacity, effective information technology, and proactive disease investigation. In the fast-changing field of diagnostics, the funding will help the VDL continue to deliver on its mission to empower animal health professionals through excellence and innovation.
