Remembering Dr. Victor Cox

November 6, 2023

Cox, Vic

The VBS department is saddened to announce the death of VBS Professor Emeritus, Dr. Vic Cox (5/20/41-10/9/23). He joined the University of Minnesota in 1975 and was recognized during his career for his commitment to education and engaging students.

Dr. Cox was an Associate Professor of Gross Anatomy, founded the Anatomy Museum, and developed a method of freeze-drying anatomy specimens to produce permanent, dry, nontoxic specimens that could be used for teaching. He had a love for his family, a passion for veterinary education, and an overall intellectual curiosity that enabled him to make a connection with so many different people as he sought to learn from their perspective.

To make a gift in remembrance of Dr. Cox, the Dr. Vic Cox Scholarship in Bovine Medicine is recommended. To read about Dr. Cox's career, check out a write up about the CVM Veterinary Anatomy Program in the CVM Profiles 75th Anniversary issue.
