Remembering Dr. Sally Jorgensen

The VBS department sadly announces the death of Dr. Sally Jorgensen at age 85 on August 28, 2023. Dr. Jorgensen was a Professor of Biochemistry and served as Chair of the Department of Veterinary Biology, the predecessor of VBS, from 1983–1988.
Her mentorship, generosity and kindness were hallmarks of her leadership. She subsequently served as an Associate Dean in the College of Biological Sciences until her retirement in 1995. In addition to her many significant contributions to the University and its students, she was an ardent patron and supporter of Twin Cities arts organizations and science education in public schools.
A celebration of Sally’s life was held at the McNamara Center on November 11th, 2023. A kudoboard has been established to honor her memory.
