Hinh Ly appointed CMB Director of Graduate Studies

September 2, 2020

Hinh Ly

VBS Professor, Hinh Ly was recently elected as the Director of Graduate Studies (DGS) for the College's Comparative and Molecular Biosciences (CMB) graduate program.  He replaces VBS Professor Kent Reed, who ably served in this position for nearly six years before his appointment as VBS interim Vice Chair in April.
Since joining the VBS faculty in 2011, Dr. Ly has been actively involved in the recruitment, didactic teaching, and training-mentorship of graduate students in both of the CVM graduate programs and other graduate programs in the School of Medicine and the College of Biological Sciences. He has successfully trained PhD and MS students and served on numerous graduate committees, including the CMB and VMED Program Advisory Committees. These experiences will serve him well in his role as a DGS, as they have given him the necessary background to tackle both routine and sometimes challenging or delicate tasks of graduate training.

Dr. Ly will assume his new role in September. He hopes to make an impact as an advisor for all incoming graduate students, and mold the next generation of talent in the College.  Dr. Ly’s activities will also include conducting annual reviews of the program, ensuring the success of each student, and crafting a new curriculum.
Congratulations and good luck to Hinh!
