Monkeypox

Monkeypox is the latest disease to take over recent news headlines. This virus causes an illness with characteristics of skin lesions that is spread through close contact and is closely related to the virus that caused smallpox, one of history's worst killers and which was declared eradicated in 1980. Robert Hart with Forbes recently sat down with VBS Associate Professor Matt Aliota to discuss finding successful treatment of the disease based on the success of its predessesor-Smallpox. Aliota explains, “In theory, we should be very well prepared to manage an outbreak.” Please visit the Forbes website for the full write up.
