Biography

Summary

Dr. Ji's lab is interested in the functional genomics, pathogenesis of Staphylococcus aureus, and antibacterial discovery. The lab focuses on two-component regulatory systems and functional unknown essential proteins, determine their functions for multi drug resistance and pathogenicity, and identify signaling pathways involved in pathogenicity during host-pathogen interaction. They then identify and validate novel antibacterial agents. These efforts may delivery unexploited targets for developing potent agents against this life-threatening pathogen and benefit public health.

Expertise

Molecular and cellular pathogenesis of Staphylococcus aureus; novel antibacterial discovery; antibiotic resistance

Research summary/interests

Dr. Ji's lab is interested in the functional genomics, pathogenesis of Staphylococcus aureus, and antibacterial discovery. We focus on two-component regulatory systems and functional unknown essential proteins, determine their functions for multidrug resistance and pathogenicity, and identify signaling pathways involved in pathogenicity during host-pathogen interaction. We identify and validate novel antibacterial agents. These efforts may deliver unexploited targets for developing potent agents against this life-threatening pathogen and benefit public health.
