Biography
Summary
Dr. Sheila Torres completed a residency and PhD at the University of Minnesota. She is currently a Full Professor and Head of the Dermatology Service at this Institution. Dr. Torres has published over 30 peer-reviewed articles and lectured worldwide. Her research areas of interest are atopic dermatitis, skin microbiome and antimicrobial peptides. She is the co-author of a recently released canine and feline dermatology drug handbook and was a co-editor of the Veterinary Dermatology journal. Dr. Torres received the American College of Veterinary Dermatology Award for Excellence for Outstanding Contributions to Science and Education.

- Received the Frank Kral Award for outstanding achievements and dedicated service to the veterinary profession and specialty of veterinary dermatology by the American Academy of Veterinary Dermatology – 2019.
- Received the American College of Veterinary Dermatology Award for Excellence for Outstanding Contributions to Science and Education, 2014
- Received the Excellence in Course Coordination Award in recognition of outstanding contributions to student learning through excellence in course coordination, 2011
- Received the MVMA’s Outstanding Faculty Award for providing outstanding contributions to the veterinary profession as well as students, animal patients and colleagues at the college, 2011
- Received the Outstanding Faculty Award for providing outstanding service to faculty, staff and students at the College of Veterinary Medicine, 2010
