Biography

Summary

Lauren Ienello is an Assistant Professor of Comparative Anesthesia and Pain Medicine. She received her Bachelor of Science in Pre-veterinary Science from the University of Massachusetts Amherst with a minor in Wildlife and Fisheries Conservation in 2010. She then became a Certified Veterinary Technician and worked at MSPCA Angell in Boston Massachusetts as an Anesthesia Technician for 4 years before deciding to go to veterinary school. She then received her DVM in 2018, and completed a Small Animal Rotating Internship in 2019 and a Residency in Comparative Anesthesia and Pain Medicine in 2022, all at the University of Minnesota, where she was hired on to stay.

Dr. Ienello has a strong interest in critical anesthetic cases, regional anesthesia as well as zoo and wildlife anesthesia and analgesia. She enjoys teaching students, interns and residents.

Research Summary/Interests

Dr. Ienello is interested in developing loco-regional techniques in underrepresented species. She is also interested in improving anesthetic techniques for zoo and wildlife species.
