Trial #1: Investigating the safety and efficacy of combining Zika virus vaccines and autologous tumor lysates in pet dogs with high-grade gliomas

About

This trial focuses on providing a thoroughly tested vaccine against a virus called Zika virus alongside vaccines created directly from a dog's own brain tumor cells. Tumors are removed surgically. Enrolled dogs receive vaccines twice before surgery, then three times after surgery. These vaccines can be performed by local veterinary teams. Every 16 weeks, MRIs are performed to monitor treatment response.

Enrollment requirements

All dogs with MRI-confirmed gliomas are eligible for enrollment in this trial. Dogs must be amenable to handling. Prior to enrollment, dogs must be screened for any evidence of cancer in their thorax (chest) or abdomen.

Covered costs

  • All costs associated with surgery, post-operative MRI, post-operative care, and infusions are covered by the study
  • Clients must pay for pre-enrollment thoracic (chest) and abdominal radiographs (X-rays), and for the MRI that is performed to diagnose their dog's brain tumor

Trial #2: Using nanoparticles to deliver anti-tumor genes to pet dogs with high-grade gliomas

About

This trial focuses on delivering anti-tumor genes directly to the tumor by attaching them to nanoparticles that the tumor cells ingest. Tumors are removed surgically, then the nanoparticle medication is used to line the cavity. Every 16 weeks, MRIs are performed to monitor treatment response.
