Increasing Research Impact Through Commercialization Lunch and Learn Series
The Office of Technology Commericalization and MIN-CORPS have teamed up with the CVM research office to offer a 4 part lunch and learn series on technology commercialization topics. We encourage attendees to arrive at 11:45am to grab lunch and get settled in as the presentations will start around 12pm. All Lunch and Learn programs will be in room 280 of the Veterinary Diagnostic Lab.

Intellectual property basics and processesDo you have an innovative idea but aren’t sure what to do with it? Representatives from Tech Comm will give an overview of the type of innovations you can report, the process behind reporting innovations, and the resources available to you. If you are interested in creating strong connections outside of academia, you cannot miss this event! Creating a partnership with industry can help you make new connections, allow you to solve important industry problems, and even obtain research funding. Leza Besemann, senior marketing manager at the Technology Commercialization Office, will share information on identifying the right industry partner, finding the best way to partner, securing industry funding, and navigating the challenges associated with these relationships. Faculty that have created these partnerships and industry representatives will be telling their success stories!Session 3: Tuesday March 17, 2020 @ 12:00 – 1:30pmExperience of Veterinary Innovators Working in Startups or Established Companies
This section will introduce you to some of the steps in the commercialization process that take place after the invention disclosure and patenting. These steps include market assessment, licensing, customer discovery, fund raising, and revenue and commercialization. We had a great turnout for session one related to Intellecutal Property basics in the Technology Commercialization and MIN-CORPS partnership lunch and learn series funded by the Office of the Associate Dean for Research. More than 20 CVM colleagues participated in a lively discussion about their experiences with IP and commercialization. We encourage all of CVM faculty, staff, and students to consider attending a future session of this series targeted at increasing your understanding of increasing your research impact.
