Root promoted to associate dean for education
On June 14, Peggy Root Kustritz, DVM, PhD, was promoted to the role of associate dean of education. In her new role, Root serves as an adviser on academic matters with a focus on accreditation, faculty development of teaching, and the upcoming SDSU 2+2 program. She also provides leadership and coordination of the academic counseling and academic technology programs within the College of Veterinary Medicine.
Root got her DVM from the University of Minnesota College of Veterinary Medicine in 1987. After graduating, she worked in small animal private practice in the Twin Cities for several years. Then, she returned to the University of Minnesota to complete a residency in theriogenology. She achieved board certification in theriogenology in 1994, completed a PhD in theriogenology in 1995, and a masters in medical education in 2015. She is currently a professor in small animal reproduction. She is the author of several veterinary texts and one text for dog breeders and is a frequent speaker for lay and veterinary audiences.
