Goldschmidt wins award, fellowship
Stephanie Goldschmidt, BVM&S, DAVDC, assistant professor in the College of Veterinary Medicine, was recently awarded the American Veterinary College of Dentistry Up and Coming Award. This award, presented by the Foundation for Veterinary Dentistry, is given to a promising new diplomate who shows potential to be a leader in the field of veterinary dentistry.
Goldschmidt was also chosen for the Thomas P. Sollecito One Health Fellowship in Oral Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine. This fellowship is a lifelong endowment open to both oral medicine specialists and veterinary oral medicine specialists, in support of keeping the relationship between humans, domesticated animals, and wildlife healthy, otherwise known as One Health. The fellowship consists of a two-week immersion program in clinical oral medicine and gives the recipient the opportunity to develop their own research project.
“This prestigious award and fellowship opportunity provide strong evidence that Dr. Goldschmidt’s accomplishments are recognized at the national level,” said Cathy Carlson, DVM, PhD, DACVP, chair of the Department of Veterinary Clinical Sciences (VCS). “I am extremely proud to have her as a faculty member in the VCS department.”
Goldschmidt will head to Pennsylvania in March to begin her fellowship. She will also attend the American Academy of Oral Medicine annual meeting, where she will present a poster and/or manuscript publication.
