Study Purpose:

The purpose of this clinical study is to investigate shampoo and mousse treatments to alleviate symptoms in dogs with one of three dermatological conditions: atopic dermatitis, pyoderma (germ overgrowth), or seborrhea.

CALM: study for dogs with atopic dermatitis flare up

Eligible dogs

    • Dogs previously diagnosed with atopic dermatitis
    • Currently having a flare up of their symptoms

Exclusions

    • Lactating or pregnant dogs
    • Dogs with any other itchy skin condition
    • Any start up or change in current medications used to manage their atopic dermatitis
    • Any major disease that may interact with atopic dermatitis

PYO: study for dogs with pyoderma

Eligible dogs

    • Dogs requiring treatment for superficial skin infection or overgrowth based on clinical signs and examination of cells (cytology)

Exclusions

  • Lactating or pregnant dogs
  • Currently on antibiotics
  • Deep pyoderma or parasitic infection
  • Any major disease that may interact with pyoderma

SEB: study for dogs with seborrhea

Eligible dogs

    • Dogs with dry or greasy seborrhea

Exclusions

    • Lactating or pregnant dogs
    • Dogs with pyoderma, yeast or parasitic infections
    • Any start up or change in current medications used to manage their seborrhea
    • Any major disease that may interact with seborrhea

Study summary (all three):

Each dog will complete 3 visits to the Veterinary Medical Center (VMC) in a 21-day period for exams, assessments, and sample collection (skin cytology). Owners will apply shampoo and mousse products at home on a specific schedule. Owners will have forms to fill out, at home and in the clinic. We will also photograph the dog’s skin lesions.

Cost of the study:

Once enrolled, the study will pay for the investigational products and the costs of the visits listed above.
