Summary
Research interests in our laboratory are focused on studying the regulation of host responses to viruses, especially those causing emerging infectious diseases in animals and human, and elucidating the mechanism of host-virus interaction and viral pathogenesis. The pathogens studied in our lab include members of orthomyxoviruses, bunyaviruses, and flavivirus such as avian and swine influenza viruses, novel Heartland virus and SFTS bunyavirus, and Zika virus. Our two major foci are 1) characterization of novel immune evasion mechanisms by bunyaviruses and flavivirus, and 2) regulation of host responses to avian and swine Influenza viruses.
