Bio Summary
Dr. Michelle Kutzler graduated from Washington State University College of Veterinary Medicine in 1993 and practiced in rural Minnesota for 4 years before starting a theriogenology residency program at Cornell University. Following completion of the residency and becoming board-certified in theriogenology, Dr. Kutzler started a PhD in Physiology at Cornell University. Following completion of the PhD, Dr. Kutzler was hired as an Assistant Professor at Oregon State University College of Veterinary Medicine. Dr. Kutzler was tenured and promoted to Associate Professor in 2008 and to Full Professor in 2022. In July 2025, Dr. Kutzler joined the College of Veterinary Medicine faculty at the University of Minnesota where she will be teaching theriogenology and reproductive physiology in the 1st, 3rd, and 4th years as well as providing consultation for large animal theriogenology emergencies.
Expertise
Dr. Michelle Kutzler is a board-certified expert in small and large animal theriogenology (animal reproduction). She has published over 100 peer-reviewed papers, over 30 book chapters, and 2 books within this subject area. Dr. Kutzler serves as the chair of the World Small Animal Veterinary Association Reproduction Control Committee and co-chair for the International Symposium for Canine and Feline Reproduction Scientific Committee. She is a Scientific Advisor for the Alliance for Contraception in Cats and Dogs, Virbac (Suprelorin) and Epivara. Dr. Kutzler is also the President Elect for the American Association of Small Ruminant Practitioners.
